Looking at buying a 1964 235

I looking at buying a 1964 235.
This will be my first airplane I am just about ready to take my check ride.
I found a real nice one for around 50,000.00
The only thing I am wondering about is the engine out procedure.
I have been told it drops like a rock with no power.
Does that need to concern me?
I had an instructor loose an enging this summer in an Zenith-STOL CH 801 on base
and cold not make the runway and was killed.
So the glide ration deal is on my mind.
